 ndonmusichall.com---------------------------------For over two decades\, P
rotest the Hero have existed at the outer edge of progressive metal in a p
lace where technical precision collides with razor-sharp lyricism\, and an
irreverent spirit refuses to play by genre rules. With their latest relea
se Within\, the Ontario-born band pushes deeper into uncharted territory\,
delivering their most sonically expansive and ambitious work yet.\nSince
forming as pre-teen friends\, the band has built one of the most respected
catalogs in modern progressive metal. The releases of Kezia\, Fortress (C
ertified Gold in Canada)\, Scurrilous\, Volition\, Pacific Myth\, and Pali
mpsest have earned them a Revolver Golden Gods Award\, multiple Canadian I
ndependent Music Awards\, 5 Juno Award nominations and 1 win. Their albums
have consistently charted in Canada while cultivating a fiercely loyal gl
obal fanbase. Protest the Hero have toured extensivelyalongside acts like
Killswitch Engage\, Between the Buried and Me\, Tesseract\, Periphery\, Pr
opagandhi\, and appeared on major stages including Vans Warped Tour and Au
stralia’s Soundwave Festival. Praised by outlets like Alternative Press\
, Decibel\, and Guitar World\, they remain known for explosive live perfor
mances\, fearless songwriting\, and unwavering commitment to artistic inde
pendence.\nThat foundation makes Within both a culmination and a reinventi
on. It masterfully blends their signature high-velocity riffing with cinem
atic arrangements\, orchestral interludes\, and bold melodic experimentati
on. The album is able to expand their sonic identity without abandoning th
e chaotic precision that defines them. Drawing from film scores\, musical
theatre\, and enduring influences like Propagandhi\, Protest the Hero stre
tch their sound further than ever. The result pushes melodic passages to n
ew heights while pulling darker moments into even more extreme territory.\
nAt the heart of Within is a conceptual thread drawn from the Hermetic max
im: “As above\, so below\; as within\, so without\; as the universe\, so
the soul.” Focusing on the idea of “within\,” the album explores th
e individual’s inner world and grapples with howthoughts\, emotions\, an
d beliefs are shaped by forces far beyond our control. Each song reflects
the subtle but profound ways external pressures (social\, political\, and
personal) filter inward\, leaving lasting imprints on identity and perspec
tive. The result is the most personal body of work the band has released t
o date\, balancing introspection with the expansive scope that defines the
ir sound.\nThe album’s creation reflects that same sense of ambition and
intention\, recorded across a network of home studios and creative spaces
. Guitars were tracked with Derya Nagle (Good Tiger) in Boulder\, Colorado
\, while vocals were produced and recorded byMilen Petzelt-Sorace at front
man Rody Walker’s home studio in Whitby\, Ontario. Bass and drum product
ion were led by longtime collaborator Cameron McLellan in Toronto\, with d
rums written and recorded by Nathan Bulla at Jukasa Studios. McLellan also
performed bass on the album. The album’s cinematic scope is further elev
ated by orchestral compositions from William Lamoureux (Nelly Furtado)\, s
eamlessly woven into the record’s structure. Mixed by acclaimed producer
  Adam “Nolly” Getgood
