Shaner Macaulay started the site out of St. Catherines, ON in 1998, and OntarioPunk.com was registered in 1999. Shane’s last post was in November of 2006. He let the domain go and within’ months it was purchased. The site was taken down after Shaner started working full time in radio in 2004, and was made the Web & Graphics Director in 2006, as he couldn’t keep up with the updates, most people were using Facebook, and the scene was becoming a joke with the battles of “I’m more punk than you” and “They’re not punk” attitudes. It no longer was about the music, but the judgement of others.
After 15 years, he’s back in the scene. A dad, a husband, still working in radio, and a co-host and operator of the Johnny and Shaner Punk Rock Dadcast. Find it at punkrockdadcast.com and stream it everywhere.
And now OntarioPunk.com is back but only as a memory… for now. After OntarioPunk.com was bought (the domain), it was going for $850 US. So a couple years ago Shaner noticed it was available again a scooped it back up. So! We’re looking for old photos, videos, setlists, interviews, etc. A place to chat and catch up! We have a Facebook page as well that was started after the site went down.
